Taking care of your body is an important step when it comes to self-care. Taking care of your physical body is just as important as nurturing your mind. When you take care of yourself you begin to feel better in both areas.
This inexpensive sugar scrub is a great way to tell your skin I love you. Your skin is your body's largest organ and it deserves some love. Especially with winter coming skin can dry out and just feel gross. Using this will refresh your skin and give it a touch up. It is easy to make and smells yummy!
By taking care of your physical body you are showing your mind that you care about yourself and that will help your mind to heal and release stress.
Here is what you need to make the sugar scrub:
1. Sugar

You will need 1 cup of sugar. I prefer using granulated sugar but, you can use brown sugar if you prefer.
2. Coconut oil

Use 4 Tablespoons of coconut oil.
3. Essential Oils or extract

Find a scent that you enjoy and add 7-10 drops into the mix. You can vary the drops based on how strong or mild you prefer the scent. I use Young Living essential oils. For this batch I used Lavender. If you use extract don't add too much because they have alcohol and can ruin it.
4. Food coloring (optional)

Add a few drops of food coloring to make it colorful. Or if you want to keep it all natural leave out the coloring. I used blue and red to make a purple.
To make the scrub
Put the coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds or until the oil is liquid. Mix the sugar with the liquid coconut oil. If the mixture is runny add more sugar until it is at a consistency you like.
Add in the essential oil. You can mix scents or stay with one. Then if you choose add in the food coloring. Store in a container with a lid.
You can use it on your hands, feet, elbows, or any other areas of skin that get rough for you. Remember you are worth it and deserve to treat your body!
